Sumedang, May 14, 2024 – Sumedang Regency has set an ambitious target to achieve the Nindya, or even Utama, category of the Child-Friendly Regency (KLA) predicate in 2024. This is a significant improvement from the 2023 achievement, where Sumedang managed to win the Madya award.
This determination was emphasized by Acting Secretary of the Regional Secretariat (Pj Sekda) Tuti Ruswati in the 2024 KLA evaluation meeting with the Population Control and Family Planning, Women Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (DPPKBPPA) at the Sekda Meeting Hall, Monday (13/5/2024).
“From the results of the self-assessment related to KLA, there are still some homework. Out of 1,000 points, Sumedang has only reached 768. Therefore, maximum efforts need to be made in the next week until the end of May,” said Tuti.
This evaluation meeting aims to review and examine each KLA indicator. “It is hoped that each SKPD can provide input and evidence related to this KLA. With cooperation and joint commitment, Sumedang is optimistic that it can achieve the Nindya, or even Utama, predicate in KLA in 2024,” she added.
Head of the Women Empowerment and Child Protection Division of DPPKBPPA Ekki Riswandiah explained that currently Sumedang Regency is in the process of self-evaluating KLA. “The deadline for self-evaluation is the end of May. In March, we have input performance data from 2023 to April 2024. There are 5 clusters, 29 indicators, and 800 questions that must be answered and proven as a form of Sumedang Regency’s commitment to realizing a Child-Friendly Regency,” explained Ekki.
Furthermore, Ekki explained that after the self-evaluation, the application will be closed and the provincial government and the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection will conduct an assessment of the conformity of the questions with the evidence provided. “Does the evidence provided show a commitment to fulfilling children’s rights in the KLA indicators? The results will be announced on National Children’s Day in July,” he concluded.
Sumedang’s efforts to achieve the Nindya and Utama KLA predicate are a real proof of the regional government’s commitment and seriousness in providing comprehensive protection and fulfillment of children’s rights. With synergy and collaboration from various parties, it is hoped that Sumedang can become an ideal example for other regencies/cities in realizing KLA.
