Sumedang Regional Disaster Management Agency Distributes Aid to Fire Victims in Cipacing Jatinangor

HALLOSUMEDANG – The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sumedang Regency has distributed logistical assistance to families affected by a fire in Dusun Madalangu RT 03 RW 07, Cipacing Village, Jatinangor District, on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

Atang Sutarno, the Head of BPBD Sumedang Regency, stated that their team had conducted an assessment and provided assistance to the fire victims.

“Today, we at BPBD Sumedang not only conducted assessments but also provided assistance to the fire victims. This aid is a directive from the Acting Regent who is concerned about this fire incident,” said Atang.

Atang further explained the chronology of the fire incident, which occurred around 04:30 AM at the house of Oci Suparman.

“Regarding the initial point of the fire, it is suspected to have originated from burning activities inside the victim’s elderly-owned room,” added Atang.

According to him, witnesses saw the victim burning trash inside the room, but the fire quickly spread and engulfed the victim’s bed.

“At the request of the locals, assistance was provided to manually extinguish the fire, but it continued to grow and required the assistance of local firefighters,” Atang said.

Atang confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident, but material losses were estimated to reach around Rp500 million.

“Although there were no casualties, the material losses from the fire are estimated to be around Rp500 million,” he explained.

In this context, Atang urged the community to remain vigilant and avoid activities that could potentially cause fires.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant and avoid activities that could potentially lead to fires,” he concluded.
