HALLO SUMEDANG – The Sumedang Regency Government has unveiled its City Branding initiative, dubbing it ‘Sumedang The City Of Knowledge’, alongside the Launch of the Lembah Cisaar-Jatigede Geopark with its geodiversity, biodiversity, and cultural diversity, at the Tampomas Setda Hall on Thursday (3/21/2024).
Acting Regent of Sumedang, Herman Suryatman, stated that the launch of the City Branding and Geopark initiatives aims to enhance the competitiveness and appeal of Sumedang Regency.
“Certainly, with the launching of the city branding and geopark, the welfare of the Sumedang community can significantly improve,” he said.
He added that the Sumedang Regency Government will continue to pursue a significant reduction in poverty and unemployment rates. In fact, in 2014, Sumedang Regency targets a reduction in poverty rates by 1-1.5 percent, which is twice the rate compared to the previous year.
“We will strive for a significant reduction in poverty rates as well as unemployment rates. Because the ultimate goal of this launch is the improvement of community welfare,” he explained.
The overarching vision of Sumedang Regency is to enhance the welfare of its people. “We are making efforts and working hard to realize the prosperity and happiness of the community,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Advisor Team of Lembah Cisaar Geopark, who is also a Professor at ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Deni Juanda, stated that areas designated as geoparks must achieve educated and healthy communities, preserved environments, and increased economic activity.
“The three pillars of a geopark are geodiversity, biodiversity, and cultural diversity, with a focus on development themes. In areas designated as geoparks, the aim is to have educated and healthy communities, preserved environments, and increased economic activity,” he explained.
The launch was attended by members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum, heads of government agencies, sub-district heads, leaders of state-owned and regional-owned enterprises, university professors, representatives from tourism and creative economy organizations, community leaders, and other invited guests.
