HALLOSUMEDANG – Heavy rainfall in Nagarawangi Village, Rancakalong Subdistrict, on Sunday (December 1), triggered a landslide that eroded the Retaining Wall (TPT) in RT 04 RW 05. This incident has drawn serious attention from the Sumedang Regency Government.

Acting Regent of Sumedang, Yudia Ramli, along with several local government officials, visited the site on Wednesday (December 4, 2024) to ensure that the road connecting Nagarawangi Village to Cibunar Village remains accessible. Immediate emergency measures were taken to address the situation.

“This landslide is quite concerning as it has damaged the TPT and threatens the village road. Therefore, through the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUTR) and the Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), we have initiated emergency actions to ensure the road remains usable for residents,” said Yudia.

He emphasized that despite the road being a village road, the local government is committed to maintaining public accessibility.

In addition to safeguarding the connection between villages, the Acting Regent highlighted the importance of raising community awareness in dealing with potential disasters in the future.

“We need to be more vigilant during the rainy season, especially in disaster-prone areas. Let’s consider disasters as friends, meaning we must be prepared and support one another. Avoid acting individually; instead, work together,” he urged.

The Acting Regent also appreciated the synergy between the local government, the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), subdistrict officials, and the community in managing disaster response in Sumedang. This collaboration was seen as highly effective.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Binamarga Division at the Sumedang PUTR Agency, Deni Syafarat Sugandhi, outlined the emergency steps to be taken, which include installing a 25-meter gabion wall as a temporary landslide barrier.

“We will also cover the affected area with tarps to prevent water seepage that could worsen the situation. A permanent solution will be prioritized next year, funded by the 2025 Village Fund (Bankudes),” explained Deni.

The swift actions by the Sumedang Regency Government are expected to ensure public safety while maintaining smooth mobility between the villages.
